GRAND OPENING JUNE 19!

McCoy’s Grand is thrilled to officially celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Courtyard Plaza and Gardens on Friday, June 19, during our “Bluegrass Salute to America & WV” community celebration. This exciting new outdoor gathering space has been created as a place for audiences, families, and visitors to relax, connect, and enjoy performances in the heart of downtown Moorefield. The project features a new outdoor performance stage, table seating, gardens inspired by Eunice McCoy’s original gardens from the early days of McCoy’s Grand, and Betty’s Bar — named in memory of Betty Stickley and her many contributions to McCoy’s and the community.

Work on the Courtyard Plaza and Gardens began with the successful completion of Phase One thanks to the generous partnership and support of Hardman’s Hardware in Moorefield and Trex in Winchester, Virginia. This spring, Phase Two brought additional landscaping, lighting, seating, and finishing touches to complete the vision for this new community green space.

McCoy’s Grand is excited to open the plaza and gardens for everyone to enjoy as we continue building new experiences and gathering spaces leading into our 100th Anniversary celebration.

BEAUTY LOU AND THE COUNTRY BEAST

Additional Music by

JON HART and MICHAEL SCHOONER

Missoula Children’s Theatre presents BEAUTY LOU AND THE COUNTRY BEAST, an original country western adaptation of the classic fairy tale BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Beauty Lou is the oldest daughter of the bronc-bustin’ balladeer Buck. At the local county fair, young Beauty Lou is upset by the ungrateful behavior of a miner who has won the blue ribbon for his beautiful roses. She calls him a beast and wishes that he would look like one too. Years later, when in danger of losing the family farm, Buck meets the miner-turned-beast. Beauty Lou agrees to befriend the Beast to save her family. Beauty Lou and the Beast both learn to look beyond appearances and first impressions and to see the beauty that dwells inside. The story, set in the American West, also features Beauty Lou’s six sisters, her Imaginary Friend, her dog Fleabite Clyde, farmhands Slim and Dusty, the neighborly Country Folk and the Barnyard Critters.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Summer.  We look forward to collaborating with Missoula Children's Theatre on another great summer project!

DISCOVER THE McCOY-McMECHEN MUSEUM

When McCoy’s Grand Theatre matriarch Eunice Dasher McCoy passed away, she left a powerful legacy behind. In her will, she ensured that McCoy’s Grand would be preserved—not torn down, not radically altered—so future generations could experience the theatre much as audiences did in its golden age.  Built in 1927, McCoy’s Grand has seen careful updates over the years, yet it remains remarkably true to its original character. Walking through the building today feels like stepping back in time, where the spirit of classic cinema, live music, and community theatre still lingers in every corner.

The McCoy-McMechen Theater & Museum brings this history to life. Inside, visitors will discover film archives, original architectural plans, vintage movie posters, historic photographs, production memorabilia, old tickets, performance schedules, and original signage—each piece telling part of the story of this beloved landmark and the generations it has served.  A favorite destination during Hardy County’s Heritage Weekend each September, the museum welcomes visitors year-round who are curious about local history, classic movie houses, and the enduring role of the arts in small-town America.   The Board of Directors of McCoy’s Grand remains deeply committed to honoring Eunice McCoy’s vision—preserving the museum’s heritage while keeping the theatre vibrant and active with performances, concerts, and community events.

We invite you to stop by, explore the exhibits, and experience the living history of one of Hardy County’s true cultural treasures: the McCoy-McMechen Theater & Museum.
